Podium Finish and Class Victory for Moritz Horn at the Spa-Classic

Moritz Horn and the Schnitzer Classic team delivered an impressive performance at the prestigious Spa-Classic, making a strong statement at the opening event of the new racing series.

Competing at the legendary and demanding Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, Horn took part in the newly established championship for former DTM and Group A touring cars built up to 1992. From the very first practice session, he impressed within a highly competitive field by consistently setting fast lap times.

Particularly remarkable: Moritz Horn races an original 1987 Alpina BMW M3 E30 Group A. This means that Horn and Schnitzer Classic compete with an authentic historic touring car from the early days of the DTM against significantly newer cars from the early 90’s producing up to 100 horsepower more.

Thanks to a strong driving performance and a perfectly prepared car, Horn secured fifth place on the starting grid during qualifying for Sunday’s one-hour race. With ambient temperatures reaching around 30°C, both driver and machinery were pushed to their limits.

Through a clever race strategy and an outstanding team effort, Moritz Horn successfully held his own against the more powerful competition. At the end of the race, the team celebrated an excellent second place overall as well as victory in the class for cars up to 2.3 litres.

The Spa-Classic is considered one of Europe’s premier historic motorsport events and provided the perfect stage for the launch of the new racing series. The strong result highlights not only Moritz Horn’s driving talent, but also the intensive preparation and dedication of the entire Schnitzer Classic team.

With strong momentum and great motivation, the team now looks ahead to the next race of the season.
