The 83rd Goodwood Members’ Meeting delivered a truly special moment as touring car history came back to life.
Johnny Cecotto, one of the most iconic and successful Schnitzer drivers of the 1990s, was reunited with a very familiar machine: the BMW E36 STW from the 1996 Italian Superturismo Championship, meticulously prepared by Schnitzer Classic in its original specification.
As part of the spectacular Supertouring demonstration, Cecotto shared driving duties with Ralph Bahr, bringing one of the golden eras of touring car racing back to the legendary Goodwood circuit.
From the very first laps, it was clear that the connection between driver and car had never faded. Cecotto immediately felt at home behind the wheel, praising both the authenticity and the flawless preparation of the car. The South African visibly enjoyed every moment on track, reliving memories from one of the most competitive periods in touring car racing history.
For spectators and team alike, the reunion was far more than just another demonstration run — it was an emotional journey back to an unforgettable era of motorsport and a fitting tribute to one of the greatest touring car drivers of all time.
A truly memorable weekend at Goodwood.
